When I was in my early twenties, I took great pride in never owning a suit. After a while I realized it wasn’t worth holding on to. My whole career, I’ve been proud of never having a proper resume. That one, I’m starting to think, isn’t worth holding on to either.
I’ve worked on a lot of small, personal projects… which has been great! I have, however, put little time into anything that would support my livelihood.
Losing my job last month has certainly upped the stress level around here, especially given that I’m still in the middle of going through a divorce. I must say, though, I’m quite content to no longer be working for a billionaire.
An unease about where I fit into things is a thread you can follow throughout my entire time of making a living by doing things with computers. But I’m not sure I’ve ever had more questions about where I fit into all of it than I do now.
