Central Standard
A tiny software studio I ran out of a camper in the backyard.
Bloom came first. Central Standard formed around it in May 2011, one person and one consultancy, and ran until December 2022.
Projects
- Bloom — an iOS app for making consistently good coffee, and the reason the studio existed
- Mockingbird — a wireframing tool that ran in the browser
- Scribe — an iOS app for generating fantasy character names in a hurry
- Oggl — a social network for the Hipstamatic community
- Exposure — I helped my pals Luke Beard and Kyle Bragger build a place for photographers to share photo stories
- Rewind — iOS and Android apps that surfaced old photos from people’s Instagram feeds
- MadeSquare — an iOS app for turning your photos into prints and other objects
- A Coachella Snapchat Mini — a mini app for the canceled 2020 festival, running inside Snapchat
Offices
Mostly my basement and the camper. But there were two real offices in downtown Springfield at different points.
The first, from mid-2012 until late 2013, was shared with Jess Heugel, down the hall from Brandon Goodwin and Doug Wilson, in a building on the corner of Walnut Street and Campbell Avenue.
The second was off Park Central Square in the Holland Building, from January 2020 until December 2022.
The studio and Mockingbird ended the same month, which is not a coincidence.
